Mommy's thoughts

I don't have a picture to post tonight because I'm logged in on Ryan's work computer and all of our pictures are saved to our personal computer - I could switch computers with the touch (ok, two touches) of a button since they are networked together, but the personal computer has been acting up and I'm afraid to touch it. Ryan isn't home right now to fix anything if I mess it up...
So anyway, I decided to share something that has been on my mind today. I was talking with an old co-worker today whose wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's this past year. They are in their mid-fifties, so this has been quite a shock to everyone. My co-worker and his wife are not Christians and yet his spirit today was one of great thankfulness because their situation could be so much worse than it is. I was humbled and convicted all at once because I have struggled a lot lately to be thankful and content with where the Lord has placed me right now. Being a stay-at-home mom is such a privilege and blessing and yet so many days I grumble about the house not being clean enough or the budget being out of whack or Addie whining or so many inconsequential things. The bigger picture is that there are so many hurting people around me who are lost and facing life without the hope of Christ and I need to be sharing His hope with them.
I was convicted today to "Rejoice in the Lord always" and to give Him thanks with a grateful heart. I am truly thankful for the hope I have in Christ Jesus and I pray that you share in that great hope. I am also thankful for the Lord's provision which allows me to be home with Addisyn and for His tender care in molding me into the image of His Son.
Please pray for Tom and Jenny and pray that God will provide opportunities for Ryan and I to be a blessing to them and to witness to them of Christ's love and salvation. Remember to thank the Lord today - you don't have to look long to find something to be thankful for!

Peek-a-boo...I see you!

Addie is really into playing peek-a-boo lately - this picture was taken during a game of peek-a-boo with her favorite blanket over her head! She thinks she's hilarious (which she is, of course) and you never know when she's going to throw her hands up in front of her face and wait for you to say "Where's Addie?". She is so proud of herself when she moves her hands and can see you again!
Addie had her 15mo. check-up today, she is 21.5 lbs (25%) and 32.5" (90%). She also cut her 13th and 14th teeth - only two to go and then we're done except for the 2 year old molars - I'm throwing a party when we get them all in!!!!

Giggle girl

I was doing a bunch of things at once in the kitchen the other day and forgot about dinner cooking on the stove...next thing I knew the smoke detector was loudly announcing that I had burned dinner. I was frantically swinging a kitchen towel at the smoke detector to get it to stop going off when Addie burst into hysterical laughter. My sister, Bri, grabbed the camera to capture the moment and I think we ended up with pizza for dinner that night...

Torie Time

Our friends, Rich and Tish, were out of town for a week and their daughter, Torie, stayed with us for part of that time. Addie loves having her own personal playmate when Torie is here with us! We tried and tried to get some good pictures of the two of them together, but Addie wouldn't have it - she was too busy trying to play! Torie is very patient with Addie - at one point I was in the kitchen while they were in the family room and when I went in there I found Torie sitting on the floor and Addie standing next to her pulling on her eyelashes!! Addie is fascinated with hair right now - probably because she has so little - but really - eyelashes?!? We are hoping in a few years Torie will be our babysitter when we want to get out - that is if Addie hasn't scared her away by then!!

"Beebo"

Addie has discovered her belly button and we affectionately term it her "beebo" - thanks to a really cute Sandra Boynton book that is one of her favorites! I have so much to blog about from this last week, but not enough time tonight. I had to put this picture up, though. It cracks me up!!

Update

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for me this week- my surgery went well on Monday and I am slowly getting back on my feet. Two major praises from the day - I didn't pass out when I had the IV put in and I didn't get sick at all from the anesthesia! My nurses were wonderful and did everything they could to help me through those things and God was good! Addie has been doing well with all of the upheaval and Ryan is doing great being "Mr. Mom"! We're thankful for our friends and family who have been such a huge help to us and we praise the Lord for His care and goodness!
